Gnomish Deities

The Gnomish pantheon has five primary deities. Each represents a fundamental aspect of their culture – their practicality, sense of humor, love of travel, innate magic, and their fascination with how things work. Underlying the various attributes of the Gnomish gods is a feeling of carefree joy. Their love of life seems boundless, and that divine aspect of their nature is embraced by the Gnomish race as well.

Grimilda Flywing

Small, even for a Gnome, Grimilda has lemon yellow hair, and violet eyes set in a plump, round face that is always smiling. Her symbols are spider webs and nets, and occasionally a hand holding the world. Her followers call her the Great Collector or Lady Flywing, and it is said she has at least two of everything that exists.

Grimilda’s clerics teach that their goddess collects all things to save them for the end of the world. When the ultimate destruction of everything occurs, Grimilda will be able to create the world anew using the things she has collected. Lady Flywing’s worshippers include those who also enjoy collecting, and anyone who believes in saving for a rainy day, or the old adage ‘waste not - want not’. It’s an eclectic bunch ranging from merchants to farmers, butchers, quilters, and survivalists of all kinds.

Mun and Lunesque

God and Goddess of the moon, Mun is the Master of Death, and Lunesque is the Mistress of Magic. The two deities are lovers forever embraced in a dance of light and darkness. Their symbol is the half moon symbolizing balance between opposing natures. The lovers represent the duality always present in the world, day and night, good and bad, life and death. Both are presented as slender and elegant with deep blue eyes and silver hair. Clerics of the lovers teach balance, and believe this seeming duality is often a matter of perspective. The baker whose bread was stolen thinks it bad, but the thief who ate the bread thinks if good. To the victor, war is glorious. To the conquered, war is horrific. There are those who fear death, and those who equate it to paradise.

The worshippers of Mun and Lunesque often have dual natures themselves, a Robin Hood who steals from the rich to feed the poor, a fighter who is ruthless on the field of battle, but loving and gentle at home with family. They may also be monks, sages, or anyone wise enough to see that truth is sometimes different depending on where you stand.

Nihksie, Goddess of Mischief

Nihksie may appear in the form of a red fox, or as a Gnomish girl with poppy red hair, and caramel colored skin. In either form, she has brilliant green eyes. Her symbol is a fox’s paw print. The Goddess of Mischief is also called the Wee Trickster or Nimble Nix.

Nihksie is the great prankster. If something goes missing- Nihksie pinched it. If someone falls, Nihskie tripped them. Whenever a project fails in an epic way- Nihksie jinxed it. The pitfalls and pratfalls of life that make folks cry, then laugh, then share the story so others may laugh are all orchestrated by her tiny hands. Her worshipers include bards, rogues, and fighters, and anyone who loves a good joke.

His long, white hair is braided down his back, and despite his apparent age he moves with strength and grace. The God of Travel always carries a walking stick made of twisted grapevine with a magpie carved at the top. The Magpie is also his symbol. He is known as the Old Man of the Road, and Patron of the Path.

Sturm Farbit is the essence of wanderlust. There isn’t anywhere he hasn’t been, or won’t go visit again. He knows every road, path, and crossing, the best places to eat, and the finest places to stay. He is as comfortable under the stars as he is in the most luxurious palace. Both merchants and adventurers are among his worshipers, and anyone traveling may offer a token of reverence to procure his aid.

Tymtat Tesch is called the Gear and Cog Man, The Make Master, and Lord Tinker.

It is said that birds sounded like croaking toads until Tymtat Tesch tinkered with them. He also is credited with lighting the sun and moon, and irrigating the world with rivers. The God of Tinkering spends every waking moment working on projects to ease the burdens of the world, and inspires his followers to do the same.
